Terms of Service

Last updated: June 15, 2026

Plain-English version: By using Honor Bound LLC., you agree to a few common-sense rules: be honest about your service, treat fellow members with respect, don't share OPSEC-sensitive information, don't impersonate others. We can suspend accounts that don't follow these rules. Disputes go to arbitration in Connecticut. Read the full version below.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Honor Bound LLC. (the "Site"), operated by Honor Bound LLC ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Site.

2. Eligibility

To use the Site, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a current or former member of the U.S. Armed Forces (active duty, reserve, National Guard, Veteran, or retiree)
  • Provide accurate registration information
  • Not be barred from using the Site under applicable law

3. Service verification

The Site offers verification of military service. You may submit verification through one or more methods we make available (such as VA record verification). Verification confirms only that we believe you served — it is not a security clearance, an endorsement, or a guarantee of any kind.

You agree not to:

  • Submit verification documents that are not your own, are forged, altered, or fraudulent
  • Misrepresent your service, rank, decorations, units, or operations
  • Use the Site if you are not a current or former U.S. service member

Stolen valor — falsely claiming military service or decorations — is grounds for immediate, permanent account termination and may be reported to law enforcement.

4. Account responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Use a strong, unique password. Do not share your account with anyone. If you suspect unauthorized access, notify us immediately at [email protected].

5. User-generated content

You retain ownership of content you post on the Site. By posting, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, and back up that content for the purpose of operating the Site.

You are solely responsible for what you post. You agree not to post content that:

  • Is unlawful, defamatory, threatening, harassing, or hateful
  • Contains classified information, OPSEC-sensitive information, or anything that would put service members at risk
  • Infringes on someone else's intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights
  • Contains malware, exploits, or links to harmful sites
  • Constitutes commercial spam, multi-level marketing, or unsolicited advertising
  • Falsely claims affiliation with the U.S. Military, a specific unit, or another person
  • Identifies other service members in a way that endangers them or violates OPSEC
  • Encourages or facilitates violence, self-harm, or illegal acts

Radio Silence — Anonymous Forum Category

The "Radio Silence" category is a private, anonymous space available only to verified Veterans. All posts and replies appear without any username or identifying details to other users. By posting in Radio Silence, you understand that your identity is hidden from other members but remains visible to administrators for moderation purposes. This category is intentionally excluded from search engine indexing to protect your privacy. You agree not to attempt to circumvent the anonymity features or reveal the identity of another poster. All other Honor Bound LLC. rules (no harassment, no illegal content, etc.) still apply and will be enforced.

6. Community standards

The Site exists to help Veterans connect, share experience, and find people they served with. We expect members to:

  • Treat each other with the respect their service warrants
  • Banter between members in a respectful manner is ok as long the line is maintained
  • Argue without insults — disagreement is fine, personal attacks aren't
  • Respect privacy — don't dox other members, don't share personal information without consent
  • Honor OPSEC — don't post unit movements, current locations of deployed personnel, or other operationally sensitive information
  • Report problems via in-Site reporting tools or by emailing [email protected]

7. Moderation and enforcement

We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to:

  • Remove content that violates these Terms
  • Suspend or terminate accounts for violations
  • Refuse service to anyone for any lawful reason
  • Cooperate with law enforcement on lawful requests

Decisions are at our reasonable discretion. We aim for fairness but can't promise to act on every report or to apply policies identically in every case.

8. Verification status, badges, and tabs

Verified-Veteran status and any campaign or decoration designations on your profile are self-reported and, where applicable, document-supported. We do not perform military records authentication beyond what our verification methods provide. A verified status on this Site is not a substitute for official documentation and should not be relied on for legal, financial, or employment purposes.

9. Crisis resources, not crisis services

Honor Bound LLC. is a community site, not a mental health service. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact the Veterans Crisis Line: dial 988, then press 1, or text 838255, or visit veteranscrisisline.net (opens in new tab). We are not equipped to provide emergency mental health intervention.

10. Disclaimers

No government affiliation. Honor Bound LLC. is an independent, privately owned platform operated by Honor Bound LLC. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or an official representative of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Department of Defense, or any other federal or state government agency. Use of VA data sources (such as the VA Lighthouse API for Veteran verification) is governed by those programs' own terms and does not imply any official relationship between Honor Bound LLC. and the VA.

Informational and educational purposes only. All regulatory text, 38 CFR diagnostic schedules, rating formulas, symptom information, and related tools provided on the Site are for informational and educational reference only. They do not constitute formal medical evaluations, legal advice, legal representation, or formal claims assistance. Official VA benefit decisions are made exclusively by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Users are strongly encouraged to consult with accredited Veteran Service Officers (VSOs), accredited claims agents, or licensed attorneys for formal claims preparation and processing. Reliance on any information provided through this Site for claims decisions is entirely at your own risk.

General "as is" disclaimer. The Site is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties, express or implied, about:

  • The accuracy of user-posted content or regulatory data displayed on the Site
  • Whether other members are who they claim to be (verification reduces but does not eliminate risk)
  • Site uptime or availability
  • Fitness for any particular purpose

You use the Site at your own risk. Connections you make with other members, decisions you make based on Site content, and any in-person meetings or claims actions are entirely your responsibility.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Honor Bound LLC and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Site shall not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100.00) or, if greater, the amount you have paid us in the previous twelve months (which is typically zero — the Site is free to use).

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Honor Bound LLC harmless from any claim, demand, or damages arising from your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party right.

13. Account termination

You may close your account at any time by emailing [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our reasonable discretion. On termination, the license you granted us to host your content survives for community-record continuity, except for content removed at your specific request as part of a hard-deletion.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute not subject to arbitration (see below) shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

15. Arbitration and class-action waiver

Read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration shall take place in Connecticut or at a mutually agreed location, or by video conference. Judgment on the arbitrator's award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Class-action waiver: you agree that any claim must be brought in your individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not preside over any form of representative or class proceeding.

Exceptions: small-claims court actions and injunctive relief for intellectual property infringement may proceed in court rather than arbitration.

Opt-out: you may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to [email protected] within 30 days of first creating your account. The notice must include your username and a clear statement that you opt out of arbitration.

16. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via a notice on the Site and, where reasonable, by email. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. If you don't agree, your remedy is to stop using the Site and close your account.

17. Entire agreement; severability

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
