Hey everyone,
I just came across this important announcement from the VA and wanted to share it right away. The Department of Veterans Affairs has officially launched the VA Partial Claim Program to help Veterans who are struggling with their mortgage payments avoid foreclosure and stay in their homes.
How the Partial Claim Program Works:
  • Mortgage servicers identify eligible Veterans in default.
  • Qualified Veterans enter a 3-month trial payment plan to show they can stay current.
  • After successful completion, the servicer pays the overdue amount to bring the loan current.
  • The VA reimburses the servicer the same amount.
  • The servicer repays the VA later when the loan is paid off, refinanced, or the home is sold.
This program was authorized by the VA Home Loan Reform Act signed by President Trump in July 2025.Quote from VA Secretary Doug Collins:
“We are grateful to Congress and President Trump for creating VA’s Partial Claim Program, which will help keep thousands of Veterans in their homes.” This is in addition to other existing options like repayment plans, loan modifications (including 30- and 40-year options), and disaster-related modifications. In FY 2025 alone, the VA helped 173,000 Veterans keep their homes through various programs.
