Hey everyone,
Rep. Mike Bost (and a long list of co-sponsors) introduced H.R. 9237 on June 10, 2026 — the “Take Care of America’s Veterans Act.” It’s a massive 554-page bill that touches almost every area of VA benefits and care. Here are the quick highlights from the table of contents:
Title I – Compensation
  • Major Richard Star Act – Improves concurrent receipt for Chapter 61 retirees with combat-related disabilities.
  • Love Lives On Act – Surviving spouses keep DIC and other benefits even if they remarry.
  • Extension of increased DIC for veterans who die from ALS.
  • Sharri Briley and Eric Edmundson Veterans Benefits Expansion Act – Increases rates for certain disability compensation and DIC.
  • Multiple claims-processing reforms, automation improvements, better handling of MST claims, and independent reviews of VA forms/notices.
  • Sec. 108 – Reforms relating to Department of Veterans Affairs disability ratings — The VA is going to be adjusting these rating schedules by October 1, 2026. (This section specifically revises the rating criteria for sleep apnea and tinnitus.)
Title II – Education & Economic Opportunity
  • Vets Opportunity Act and improvements to Post-9/11 GI Bill housing stipends, apprenticeships, licensing/certification tests, and transition programs.
Title III – Health Care
  • Caregiver support, TBI care, suicide prevention grants (Parker Fox program reauthorized), prosthetics (including adaptive/sports), community care expansions, mental health pilots, and more.
Title VI – Veterans Community Care Program
  • Stronger rules on access standards, wait/drive times, quality oversight, provider training, and audits.

There are also sections on memorial affairs, VA organization/staffing, infrastructure, and more. This is one of the more comprehensive veterans bills we’ve seen in a while, and it has strong bipartisan support right out of the gate. The rating schedule changes coming by October 1, 2026, are going to be important for a lot of us — especially anyone dealing with sleep apnea or tinnitus claims. What do you all think? Any sections you’re particularly watching? Has anyone reached out to their reps yet? Drop your thoughts below.
